Kochi: The largest conference of Physicians of India, APICON 2019 will be held at the Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre from February 7th to 10th. The summit attended by more than ten thousand delegates from different states and abroad, marks the 74th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians of India (API). Kochi Branch of API hosts the mega event. The summit will be inaugurated on Thursday (7th feb) at 6.30pm by Honourable Governor of Kerala Justice (Retd.) P.Sathasivam. Dr.Pritam Gupta, President API, Dr.KK.Pareek, Chairman Scientific Committee, Dr,Sujit Vasudevan, Organizing Chairman, Dr.Sreenivasa Kamath, Organising Secretary and Dr.Mangesh Tiwaskar will speak at the inaugural session.
Explaining the significance of the summit, Dr. Sujit Vasudevan said that, API, as the Professional body of consultant Physicians, established in 1944 has been instrumental in advancing medical Knowledge and research and laying down standards of professional conduct and care. ‘The clinical experiences of experts, technical skills and newer methodologies play the most important role in diagnosis and management of diseases. These are areas where all scientific knowledge, research outcomes, skills and prevailing methods from across the world have to be pooled and shared. The conference with its theme “Blending Research and Clinical Practices” seeks to achieve these objects,’ Dr. Sujit Vasudevan said.
The Four day scientific programme, held in six parallel tracks will have deliberations and interactive sessions on all latest updates on research and developments in the field of medicine. “These include scientific lectures, debates, Case-based presentations, Panel discussions, orations and workshops.” Dr.Sreenivasa Kamath, Organizing secretary said. Scientific sessions will be held on emerging anti diabetic drugs , diabetes education, infection management and adult vaccination, hypertension management, technological advancements in cardio vascular disease diagnosis and treatment, osteoarthritis, rheumatology, neurological problems in elderly, sleep disorders, updates on H1N1, prevention of chronic renal failure, Hepatitis, tuberculosis, HIV medicine, critical care medicine, poisoning and toxicology and gastroenterological issues.
Special sessions are being organised on environmental medicine, radiation hazards, health problem in health care workers, selection of antibiotics and evolving concepts in allergy. Around fifty International faculty and experts from US,UK,Australia, Netherland, Middle East, Bangladesh, Nepal, Srilanka will lead important scientific sessions.
