Three Maoists, including a woman, killed in face-off with 'Thunderbolt'

PALAKKAD: Two Maoists including a woman were killed near Agali here on Monday in an encounter with the ‘Thunderbolt’ of the Kerala Police. Chikmagalur native Sreemathi, Suresh and Tamil Nadu native Karthi were reportedly killed by the police. The raid was conducted on information that there is a Maoist camp in Bhavanidalam in Manjakkandi forest.

Police sources revealed that they retaliated following an attack from the Maoists. The forces were on a patrol after receiving information about Maoist presence. The ‘Thunderbolt’ was on patrol under the leadership of Assistant Commandant Solomon.

The security personnel scoured the region further to flush out insurgents. The top officials of the police force have reached the area. Revenue-police authorities have also reached here for inquest actions of the dead bodies. The dead bodies might be taken to Thrissur Medical College or Palakkad district hospital for post-mortem.
