Kochi: The state government has apprised the high court that two days can be devoted exclusively for women in Sabarimala. Four women have moved court seeking security from police and government to enter Sabarimala temple. The government was responding to the demand raised in the women's plea. The court told the petitioners that personal security is equally important as fundamental rights and informed them that the court cannot put them at risk. It asked the government of its plans on the women entry issue and the time period required for that. The women have filed a plea demanding that the court should instruct the police and government to provide security.
The plea stated that they have moved court for security amidst the deliberate attempts of political parties including BJP and Congress to create conflicts in Sabarimala. They requested that specific days can be devoted for women entry in Sabarimala considering the current situation. After the SC verdict in September 28, we have been observing fast for Sabarimala darshan. Hence, the court should arrange the facilities for us, the women said in the plea. The plea was filed at the court with state government, home secretary, DGP, Devaswom board, BJP state president PS Sreedharan Pillai, general secretary AN Radhakrishnan, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and Sabarimala tantri as parties.
